TRAIL MARATHON

Starting with a small section of forest trails, you’re soon exposed to the amazing views of the Cairngorms National Park. Sharing the first 7.5 miles with the half marathon, at 6 miles you take a small downhill to your first of 3 aid stations at the Allt Scheicheachan Bothy. From this point you will be faced with a sharp climb and a ford crossing before heading up onto the main incline of the route. This small but challenging section of the route is an “out and back” to the spectacular summit of Beinn Dearg!

After arriving back at the race Marshall’s, you’ll be pointed in the direction of the Glen Bruar Lodge where you'll traverse the lower section of the Munro, and come to the second of the aid stations and the half way point of this marathon route. The second half of the route is much more friendly with a long flat (ish) section that swoops through the Glen Bruar valley on a hard packed gravel track. The views on this descent are something to behold!

On arrival at the third and final aid station at 20 miles.. the last 6 miles venture through a large section of forest overlooking the river Garry and the Blair Athol estate. This will without any doubt, be a mountain marathon to remember.

HALF MARATHON

Nothing short of epic, this half marathon will leave you wanting more! Get ready for varied terrain, incredible views & stunning scenery. Starting with a small section of forest trails, you’re soon exposed to the amazing views of the Cairngorms National Park. Climbing up through a valley, you’re surrounding by panoramic mountains.

There is a small downhill to your 1 and only feed station based at the Allt Scheicheachan Bothy. From this point you will be faced with a sharp climb and a ford crossing before head back towards Blair Castle on a long descent with fantastic features all around you. At the 11 mile point, you have a fun 1.5 mile section of “off trail” running that skirts around 2 small copse of lush woodland, then into the castle grounds to the finish.

TRAIL 10K

This 10km route has a mix of both forest trails and amazing views over the mountains. Starting in the grounds of Blair Castle and heading along a short road section, up into the surrounding woodland on a steady, gradual climb.

After 2 miles, you leave the forest behind and head up a small valley to a Cairn sat at roughly 360m. The second half of the route heads downhill and starts by hand railing the forest, crossing a small section of farm land before entering the woodland and Blair Castle grounds for a speedy finish!

TRAIL 5K

This awesome woodland 5km route is ideal for beginners. Starting in the grounds of Blair Castle and heading along a short road section, straight up into the surrounding forest trails on a steady, gradual climb.

At just short of the 2 mile point, and the highest point along the route, you will cross a bridge and head back towards the castle along a beautiful river.
