DAY 2

Saturday - Morning

Enjoy a nutritious breakfast before learning key skills during a Navigation & Hill Running Technique Workshop. Mid morning we'll get ready for an unforgettable trail run through stunning woodland & up to Bleaberry Fell & High Seat:

We begin our 7 mile run by joining the trails up through the woodland surrounding the hostel. We'll head over the traditional packhorse Ashness Bridge and North a long the lower trails into Keswick’s Great Wood. The climb starts now - a steep ascent through the woodland heading up to the picturesque view of Walla Crag and your first proper glimpse of the entire Derwentwater below!

From Walla Crag there is a 3 mile section of gradual ascent that takes you all the way to Bleaberry Fell and then onto High Seat - at 608m above sea level, this makes it the highest point for miles around.

Around midday we'll stop for lunch & soak up the panoramic views!

From High Seat at mile 5, you will head back west on a 2 mile steady descent whilst all the time taking in the views of Derwent Water and surrounding fells. After 1.5 miles we enter the Lowcrag woodland trails which take us back to the hostel for a well earned rest.

Trail running for me means seeking beauty in nature, having freedom to explore new places & being resilient mentally & physically. What I find special about the Trail Pursuit community is that everyone is so unique, from different places & walks of life yet we share an obsession for the outdoors which breaks barriers for new friendships.

As someone who primarily road runs in the city, getting out on the trail is my escape. It's more than just fresh air, it takes me to a healthy mental place.

Haroon Mota

Trail running has always been a form of complete escapism for me; it's exhilarating and challenging in equal measure but leaves you feeling accomplished and like you can tackle anything life throws your way!

Running for me is a daily reprieve from the pressures of daily life. I moved from the road into trail running about two years ago. Hitting the trails gives me a chance to reset my mind and reconnect with body whilst surrounded in beauty and nature.

Losing myself amongst nature on the trails has proven to be a lifeline, by lifting my spirits and improving my mental health. This sense of purpose is so important for me since I've had to reclaim the routes for my own... on wheels.

Frankie Butler

Trail running makes me a happier person, connects me with a nature, which I really enjoy. I feel wild and free when I'm on my trails 🙃

Magda Kaminska

To me, trail running removes the playing field all together, it removes the boundaries that come from road running and allow you to feel a full sense of adventure and intimacy with the natural world. Going off the beaten path is where I feel alive, free and at my most inspired.
